Guided by Wisdom, Grounded in Culture

The Elders Council is the cultural heartbeat of Southern West Yiradyuri Clans Land, Water, and Sky Country Aboriginal Corporation. Comprising respected Elders, elected by our members, it plays a vital role in guiding the Corporation’s work in accordance with Yiradyuri lore, law, values, and expectations.

With deep knowledge rooted in generations of lived experience, the Elders Council provides wisdom and guidance to ensure the Corporation’s initiatives align with cultural traditions and serve the best interests of Community and Country. Their counsel helps shape priorities, refine project plans, and promote the values of integrity, respect, and unity.

The Elders Council also safeguards the spiritual and cultural wellbeing of the Corporation by offering expertise on ceremonial practices and ensuring cultural protocols are upheld. Acting as both advisors and advocates, they strengthen the connection between ancient traditions and contemporary governance, ensuring that the voice of Elders remains at the heart of decision-making.

Through their leadership, the Elders Council ensures that the Corporation continues to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, creating sustainable opportunities for future generations while keeping the spirit of Country strong.
